| | Geometrische Einschränkungen an Seshadri-Konstanten |
| | Abstract: Seshadri-Konstanten sind Zahlen, die

| | Abstract: Die Untersuchung von Cohen-Macaulay Moduln über lokalen Noetherschen Ringen

| | Abstract:
I will discuss an algorithm that associates to certain quivers a
superpotential. Geometrically this means embedding the quiver into a
compact oriented surface. The surface comes with a tessellation by quadrangles
and the combinatorics of this tessellation is directly related to singularities and
discriminants in toric geometry. |

| | Non-factorial Fano 3-folds |
| | Abstract:
A singular variety is Q-factorial if a multiple of every Weil divisor (a codimension 1 cycle) is a Cartier divisor (i.e. can be defined locally by one equation).
Q-factoriality is a subtle topological property that depends both on the local analytic type of singularities and on their relative position.
The purpose of these talks will be to study non-factorial Fano 3-folds with mild singularities. Fano 3-folds are the higher dimensional analogues of spheres, they
have 'positive curvature', and as such play an important role in the Minimal Model program. I will show that one can understand to some extent how far Fano 3-folds
with terminal Gorenstein singularities can be from being factorial.
In the first talk, I will first give an introduction to terminal/canonical/Gorenstein singularities, and to factoriality. I will also present the Minimal Model
Program for (midly singular) 3-folds.
In the second talk, I will apply these techniques to the study of non-factorial Fano 3-folds. |

| | Abstract:

| | Donaldson classes on instanton moduli spaces over definite 4-manifolds |
| | Abstract:
In classical Donaldson theory, the Donaldson invariants are defined by
evaluating products of certain canonical cohomology classes (called
Donaldson classes) on the fundamental cycle of a (compactified) moduli
space of instantons. This theory has been developed for 4-manifolds
with $b_+>0$. Im my talk I will explain several properties of certain
Donaldson classes on instantons moduli spaces over 4-manifolds with
negative definite intersection form (with $b_+=0$). These properties
play a fundamental role in understanding the geometry of the instanton
moduli spaces on class VII complex surfaces, which are not
classified yet. This is very important, because we have shown in
previous articles that (at least in the case $b_2\leq 2$) one can
prove existence of holomorphic curves on such surfaces using
geometric properties of certain instanton moduli spaces. |

| | Toric degenerations of plane sections of Grassmanians related to clusters.
|
| | Abstract:
We construct singular toric varieties which are degenerations of Fano plane sections of Grassmanians G(2, n). The degenerations are related to the cluster description
of the graded coordinate algebras of the Grassmannians. These varieties are also degeneration of toric varieties related to associahedra.
Mirror symmetry of the constructed families of Fano varieties will also be discussed. |

| | A nonclassical determinantal formula for the classical discriminant |
| | Abstract:
The classical discriminant of degree-n polynomials is a
formula which determines whether a polynomial f(x) of degree n has a
repeated root. Several mathematicians in the 18th and 19th centuries
devised ways to represent the discriminant as the determinant of a
matrix, however all such classical presentations are equivalent in the
sense that they have isomorphic cokernels. In this talk, I will describe
a nontrivial determinantal presentation of the discriminant which is not
equivalent to the classical ones. It is an explicit construction of the
presentation matrix of the so-called "open swallowtail" defined by
Arnold as a module over the coordinate ring of the hypersurface defined
by the discriminant. |

| | "Projektive Räume und Modulgarben über F_1"
|
| | Abstract:
