What is ... a 4D object?

This page hosts information on Faniry Razafindrazaka's talk "What is ... a 4D object?" at the "What is ...?" seminar. The talk will take place on Friday, January 17, 1:00pm at the BMS Loft at Urania. This talk will help you better understand the talk by Jeff Weeks, which will start at 2pm.

Abstract

As a human being, we are only able to see 2D images. The extra dimension comes from our ability to understand shadows as depth information. While 3D objects have 2D shadows, 4D objects have 3D shadows. In this talk, we are going to explore, first, the 4D variant of the platonic solids together with their visualization and second, we will construct some surfaces embedded in 4-dimensional space.
