What are ... the Burger's and heat equations?

This page hosts information on Juan Camilo Orduz's talk "What are ... the Burger's and heat equations?" at the "What is ...?" seminar. The talk will take place on Friday, December 13, 1:00pm at the BMS Loft at Urania. This talk will help you better understand the talk by Felix Otto, which will start at 2pm.

*Please note that the BMS Friday talk this week will be followed by the BMS Holiday Party.*

In this short talk we will describe two concrete examples of partial differential equations (PDEs): Burger's and the heat equation. We will mention some useful techniques to solve them: method of characteristics and Fourier theory.
