What is … a Facet Massacre?

This page hosts information on Bruno Benedetti's talk "What is … a Facet Massacre?" at the "What is …?" seminar. The talk will take place on Friday, October 30, 5pm at the BMS Lounge at TU MA 212. This talk will be followed by a movie with pizza and drinks.

Abstract

We explain what it means to collapse away the faces of a given complex. This simple idea has applications in combinatorics, topology, commutative algebra and even physics. If time permits, we'll have pizza earlier than scheduled.
